Miraikan – The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation – is a national science museum established in 2001 as an open platform where people from diverse backgrounds can come together to explore, discuss, and reflect on the role of science and technology in society and its possibilities for the future. Operated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), it serves as a key hub for fostering public understanding of science and technology.
The museum is also actively engaged in contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through initiatives guided by the “Tokyo Protocol,” developed in collaboration with science museums around the world, Miraikan promotes greater awareness of global challenges and encourages public engagement with social issues.
